When given the opportunity to rewrite history, or um take advantage of reviewing a title from the Series Assassin’s Creed, you can be sure I was in full agreement. Since the rumor mill started of its development I again dreamed of synchronizing atop ultimate heights with views that could surely only get better with time passed. We all know some great things come out of Canada and this title comes from Ubisoft Quebec! Relax, check out the release trailer below, and read through our review of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey to see what adventure it holds, or could hold for you. Note that this game is rated M, for Mature and although I reviewed the title on an Xbox One X, it’s available on Xbox, PS4 and on Microsoft Computers.

Write your own epic odyssey and become a legendary Spartan hero in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, an inspiring adventure where you must forge your destiny and define your own path in a world on the brink of tearing itself apart. Influence how history unfolds as you experience a rich and ever-changing world shaped by your decisions. – UBISOFT

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Characters

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was released on October 5th, and I can tell you that it is a game full of excitement around every turn. The title begins with you choosing your roles gender, whether it be that of Elexios, (Male) or Kassandra, (Female). Don’t let this trick you into one being stronger, smarter, or less witty than the other! Depending upon your age, you may or may not remember the “choose your own destiny” style books and games? Long story short, this is kind of like that, on steroids! After choosing your character within a world that has tearing apart both your family, as much as itself. Your choices directly affect the outcome of you and those around you, while you try to piece your families puzzle back together and some type of order in the world. You are re-writing history with every word, sword swing or location you travel so to speak.

What’s that? You would like to see some gameplay. Here is a look directly from Ubisoft’s YouTube channel. I had originally embedded a clip I had uploaded via mixer, as I wanted to give you a look straight from my own gaming experience but for some reason mixer expired it. I’m sure, in the end, it was likely a normal experience within the platform but I’m new to it. If you are on mixer, I’d love you to give us a follow so you can see my streams as they come out and expect to see more Odyssey gameplay there. Assassin's Creed Odyssey Game Editions

At this point, I am thirteen hours into the game and it is not only beautiful in full 4K on my Scorpio edition Xbox One X, but continuously calls to me, begging for more play. The option to choose a male or female warrior is great, and I actually fully intend to play the game through again with Kassandra. Why? It’s just that good! Just to make you see how much gameplay is in this game, with the time I have invested so far, here is what my stats show:  7 achievements, 13hrs played, 17% main progression, player level 11, 352 total kills, 162 distance travelled. The, “your choice” style of dialogue is fantastic and ranges from fact-finding, funny and even romantic gestures, depending upon the character you are conversing with in-game. You truly have some ability to change the path your personalized character takes within the game. The fight scenes range from single one-on-one action to all out battle scenes that get your heart pounding. Special combat ability slots have changed the way you fight with 4 attached to your melee attack and the other 4 to your bow. I can’t begin to estimate how many warriors I’ve kicked of rooftops and mountain sides! Boats, ahem I mean amazingly crafted naval ships, which allow you to not only travel the waters but to also wreak havoc on enemy ships. Don’t forget to pillage and plunder them!

I always try to find something wrong within a game, as giving it the ultimate 10/10 score is something that is hard for me to do. It is very close and although I can’t pinpoint exactly what holds me back, I’d give it a solid 9.5 out of 10. The story-line in an open world concept that is gripping and keeps you involved, the additions to player choices and configurations as well as the overall gameplay all contribute to the score. It’s going to be interesting to see where this game takes me in the future along with the available season pass. If you’re looking for a continuation of a great series or a new adventure, (if you have never played an AC game) I’d highly recommend you check Assassin’s Creed Odyssey out for yourself!
